Changes to General Election Dates
The 89th Legislature enacted a number of provisions that authorize different type of entities to move their elections to the November uniform election date if they want to do so.
At the May 12, 2026 Regular Meeting of the City of New Summerfield City Council it was voted on to move the General Elections from May to November.
The primary advantage of moving election dates to November is that it allows those entities to hold their elections jointly with their county's November election, which may allow them to reduce costs and increase turnout. Click the links below for more information.
